The Truncated Cube

The Truncated Cube is an Archimedean solid derived from the familiar cube (hexahedron). It is formed by slicing off the 8 corners of a cube such that the original square faces become regular octagons, and the sliced corners become new equilateral triangular faces.

This process results in a polyhedron with 14 faces (6 regular octagons and 8 equilateral triangles), 24 vertices, and 36 edges. Each vertex connects one triangle and two octagons. Its structure beautifully demonstrates the transition between cubic and octahedral forms through truncation.
